Finding ourselves already daydreaming about a tropical vacation, we know this winter is going to be a long! As much as we hate to face it, winter in Montreal is inevitable and as the weather begins to cool e, we can’t help but  be optimistic and write a review on our favourite winter accessories. Greatest thing about a change of season? Drawing upon your favourite items from last year and adding some new ones to your wardrobe.

Purse Organizer, essential for every woman with a handbag

When MYTAGALONGS first started, co-founders Jeannie and Nicole delved into the handbags of 200 Canadian women to understand their daily needs. What they found, was that most of us carry our lives around in our handbags- from hair clips, to pay slips, we hoard it all. With all these items floating around, Jeannie and Nicole came up with one of our best selling products: The Purse Organizer. Finally, a way to keep organized, switch from one handbag to another, and carry those items we really need!

The other night, as I was sitting around the dinner table with family, I was reminded of how functional and necessary this product really is still today.

My cousin began to tell a story of how she was sitting at her son’s baseball game and began rummaging through her handbag searching for a business card of a new restaurant to recommend to an acquaintance. As she searched through the clutter, she became embarrassed as she revealed the inside of her handbag and how disorganized it was. She even told the acquaintance “don’t judge me, I know it’s a mess, i’m not usually like this!”.

My cousin explained to us that this was the first time it ever dawned on her that her handbag is such a reflection of self and that for the first time, she noticed how messy her bag really is. When my cousin got home from the baseball game, she quickly opened her closet and looked for a handbag to switch to that would be clean and alleviate the negative feeling that the previous experience created. This is when her story became even more interesting. As she opened up other handbags, she found clutter that she had left behind in each as she was switching! All the women at the dinner table began to laugh and grin, as if they could easily relate. She joked around, explaining that she had found enough loose change to pay for this weekend’s dinner out.

So after her big clean up, she became a few dollars richer and reaped the satisfaction of finding a lipstick she thought she lost. However, she explained that she just couldn’t shake the feeling of embarrassment from earlier that day and couldn’t believe how much time she wasted both cleaning and searching for items in those messy bags.

My cousin vowed to keep her handbag neat from now on, and with our purse organizers she can very well do so!

As we say farewell to summer…

So it’s another Monday…

We hope you all had a great weekend! As the weather begins to cool down, kids go back to school, and our favourite shops begin to bring in the fall collections, we’re finally beginning to face the fact that summer is coming to an end. As much as it can be a damper to say goodbye to summer, there’s plenty to look forward to for Fall 2010!

One of the most exciting things about welcoming this upcoming season will be bringing back our favourite sweaters and finally storing that dress we’ve seen hanging in the closet all summer (and maybe even worn too many times). We are very excited to make the transition from white and yellow to richer hues for fall. We can’t wait to welcome metallics, deep purple, camel and even mixed olives to our wardrobe this upcoming season. Whether it’s gem tones or the military trend, autumn seems to have a nice palette of colours that we’ll be able to mix and match from.

At an office where we reap the advantage of being able to wear jeans every day, we can’t wait to get our hands on the new styles that were seen on the runway for this season! Skinny cargo jeans allow military, comfort, and femininity to collide while paneled denim deviates not too far from the classic jean we always loved.

Aside from fashion, we also can’t wait to finally unveil all the new products that we’ve been working on all summer. In Fall 2010, you’ll get to see an array of new travel products and others that will help you get organized. New designs, packaging and product benefits are all some of the perks to come. Make sure to join the Facebook group and keep reading this blog for exclusive updates.

As we wish you all a productive week, we hope this enlightened your Monday morning and subsided the summer good-bye blues!

FALL TREND ALERT!

We just came across this Emerging trend for FALL 2010 from Fashionising.com and we’re not too sure what to think…

Introducing:  Socks with heels

Whether you like it or not, for fall 2010 wearing a pair of socks with your favourite heels will no longer be looked at as a fashion faux pas. On the bright side, the socks will keep your feet warm– but we just can’t wrap our head around the idea of stuffing our feet into those heels with thick socks on. We’re hoping this trend does not make far past the runway.. and if it does, we’re sitting out on this one .

Handbags, Handbags, Handbags

Good morning all,

Hope you all had a great weekend and that Monday is off to a good start! For those of you suffering from a sluggish Monday, here’s a little bit of a pick-me-up.

Louis Vuitton Stephen Monogram Embossed Cuir bag

We came across this bag, and we’re officially in love with the handbag and jealous of Ashley Tisdale for carrying it. Debuted in 2006, the bag sold out FAST making it an exclusive model.

The only thing Tisdale is missing is a purse organizer to keep that handbag neat!

Foldable Flats: Tested and Useful!

Toe cramming, blister forming but nonetheless stunning new heels- we all buy them and wear them because they make our legs look great and dress up any outfit. How can something so beautiful feel so terrible? A curse in disguise, we’ve got the ultimate solution for when the pain just isn’t worth that beauty. One of the co-founder’s of MYTAGALONGS just put our foldable flats to the test during her trip in New York. Just like most of us women, she decided to wear her favourite but most uncomfortable heels for a night on the town. As the night rolled into morning, she was still having a great time but couldn’t feel her feet as she danced. That’s when the foldable flats came in handy. Tucked away in her purse, she simply switched from heels to flats and was able to enjoy her night for a few hours longer. Plus, the cute design still added to her outfit.

Available by end of September 2010 – http://www.mytagalongs.com

A lesson to learn..

You know those lazy days when you just can’t help but relax around the house in your favourite sweats? Although sometimes we want to have those days a little too often, it’s important to keep them in moderation this way it feels that much better and deserved when you devote a day to doing nothing that seems to be immediately productive. Yesterday, I enjoyed one of these days. As always, what started as a nice breakfast followed with some lounging by the TV quickly turned into a day of organizing. The organizing was triggered when I noticed the heel of my new shoe peaking out from under my bed. Once acknowledging that it was out of place, I just couldn’t leave it be.

As I opened up my closet to place my shoes back in their spot, I saw my light grey handbag sitting on the floor which I carelessly dropped when I came home from dinner the night before. Now in clean up mode, I picked up my purse instantly. That’s when I noticed  A BLACK LINE across the side of my handbag. Praying that it was just a light smudge of dirt, I frantically began to wipe at the leather. After a few minutes of scrubbing the stain began to fade- I was so lucky!

Yesterday’s experience reminded me of how essential my purse hook really is. When I switched purses the night before in a hurry, I accidentally left it at home. The anxious feeling as I scrubbed at my handbag could have been easily avoided. Even more so, if the spot didn’t come out I would have really been devastated.

If you don’t have a purse hook yet, it’s worth the $15.00. We’ve even designed ones that are fashionable and unique so that you can express yourself with this little accessory!

Rent A Handbag?

With SATC 2 just days away, we can hardly wait! Despite the humour, friendship and great twists that we expect to see on screen, nothing has us more hyped than the fashion. At last night’s premiere party we got a little taste of HOPEFULLY what’s more to come!

Sarah Jessica Parker showed up wearing a stunning Valentino yellow dress- very different from the princess look that she wore to the first movie’s premiere. Although all four girls looked fantastic, SJP overall looked the best. Her hair, makeup, and grey pumps gave her a radiant look.

We don’t know about you, but this premiere has us anxiously waiting to see the outfits in the sequel. Here at MYTAGALONGS though, we’re truly fans of accessories. As women, we all have our guilty shopping pleasure- you know, that item we’ll ALWAYS splurge on. For some it’s shoes, for others handbags and for lots of us it’s both!

At MYTAGALONGS we adore handbags and that’s why we think our purse organizers are essential. They give us the ability to switch over from one purse to another quickly while keeping organized so that we can get the most use out of our handbags. Undoubtedly, indulging in handbags can be costly and often in a few seasons we find ourselves shelving the older bags and wearing the newest. Ever since the first SATC movie came out in 2008, we’ve awed over the thought of renting designer handbags and until the other day we didn’t think it was possible.

For all you readers who are like us, check out http://www.bagborroworsteal.com, a website where you can RENT designer handbags! We know, it sounds too good to be true!

As you switch from one bag to another, be sure to use our purse organizer, it’ll definitely save you most of the hassle!
